Cool Mallory ignition module blues

Went to start the 70' Suburban last night for it's weekly run and it started, idled for about three minutes then died. Found no spark at the plugs. Msd distributor installed as an upgrade. Suspect module. Local dealer says one week and ONE HUNDRED$ for p/n 70-10001 USI 0126 (Mallory). Is there a cross for this module? Have 18,000mi on distributor. Power at distributor good from ignition switch. Tried new spare coil first. Thanks for any input guys!

Re: Mallory ignition module blues

I am confused, do you have a mallory unilite or a msd dist? I had run both before both are good, but the unilite module seems mighty sensitive to me. I had several that had to have the module replaced. Any voltage spike could casue it to blow out[in my opinion]

Sorry to be so vague. It is an MSD distributor.

Re: Mallory ignition module blues

I'm not finding that part number for Mallory or MSD.

If it uses a Mallory unilite module here is a cheaper direct replacement for the 605 module.

Found the p/n for the distributor! 8548201C, I realize the "C" means it included the coil on order. It that appears that this unit is just a simple HEI replacement. If so I cannot understand why module wouldn't be in local stock and be so dear ($).

Re: Mallory ignition module blues

You should be able to use a regular HEI module in that dizzy. No need for the Mallory part.

Cool! Didn't want to assume that. Does anyone have a p/n?
