If it is turning off how is it wired? Have you checked to see if it is adjusted correctly. When I got my truck it was way off and the choke was not working correctly.

Re: 1965 c10 v8 with carb problems

i have checked for vac leaks and no leaks. i took the carb off the truck and cleaned the inside of it and still the same thing. its a 1406 carb form edelbrock. before i cleaned the carb choke setting was on the normal notch and did not run on. so i moved the choke setting clockwise 2 notch and started for a 1 min. now the setting is at the last notch and runs for 5 min. should i remove the 3 screws and check or adjust what in side. i have never gone inside the a electric choke.

Re: 1965 c10 v8 with carb problems

What is the carb doing that makes you think you have a choke problem? Is the choke not setting when cold? What does the choke do if when cold you press the pedal down one time? Will it set? Normal centered position works good most of the time. You should be able to set the choke, start the motor and have it run at fast idle. After about a minute or so hit the gas a little and have it return to normal idle.

When you say "press the gas pedal nothing" do you mean the choke opens? If so it should pull open when the pedal is pushed.

when i press the gas pedal the truck rev( am press the pedal) then it goes to the normal warming cycle. then after 5 min it shut off. i have to wait until its cold to start it again. i have tried starting it after it shut off with no luck. i have to use quick start and then it start.

Re: 1965 c10 v8 with carb problems

So this is a hot start problem. Once warm you should be able to just hit the key and it start. Are the idle are screws working and when you pulled it apart what did you set the float levels to. Both of these can cause a hot start problem. Also have you checked the wiring on the choke to ensure it is opening up as it should?
