1955-59 Cab Mounts - Is the front of the cab hard-mounted or Rubber Mounted?
Hello, I am getting to my cab install and I have a cab kit i bought 6 years ago... you know how these projects go...
anyways, i have pretty much these parts shown in this picture The square rubber piece i have on the back of the cab, but the front I just have one shim and a thin piece of rubber to set the shim on. my question is with the round rubber bushing, for some reason when I set up these pieces years ago I have the rubber bushing on the bolt attaching to the bottom of the back of the cab. Is this right? or does there need to be a rubber mount up front as well as the rear? Thanks! (if i have too many run-on sentences please let me know so i can try and clarify....) |

You are right about shim placement other than front will have probably have more than one metal shim and rubber shim between metal shims and cab. What you are aiming for is cab floor parrallel to frame and then shim radiator support from there. mine had three metal shims from the factory in the front.

Okay, well I will bolt it down for now and when I get more shims I will level out the cab to the frame.
Its strange that only the rear of the truck is rubber mounted... Thanks! |

I used 5/8" washers for shims on mine so they cant fall out. The trucks came from the factory with square metal shims with 9/16" holes drilled in them.
