what years did the general start

putting engine size on the truck fenders? I have a 68 that the emblems were shaved but I was thinking that 69 was the start year for that. What year did the badge for the size move from under the fender emblem to under the marker lamp? Was that in the model year 71? Do you think one of the 8-454 badges would look out of place uder the GMC eblem on my 68? Was it the same as the restof the years Or is it like the chev that was67-68 then 69-72 were different

Re: what years did the general start

My '71 GMC doesn't have any engine size emblem anywhere. Is it supposed to?

67-72 gmc's never had displacement emblems. I think for chevy 69 was the first year.

I think badges where they don't belong look out of place. GMCs are too cool to boast about their engine size. They make you listen and learn
