Sad Day, Farm clean up has seriously kicked in

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This past weekend, was the farm clean up that Ive talked about in my last post trying to sell a few trucks. Well so far only one sale is pending and something had to be done. I stripped what I wanted or needed but basicly this load consists of:

71 Chyenne Cab
67 GMC Camper Special Cab
71 Step bed
1959 Chevy Cab that was cut into pieces
some odd 40-50 T-posts
and misc Parts and pieces.

Next weekend I plan on making another trip and taking down at least one more.

Re: Sad Day, Farm clean up has seriously kicked in

Next weekend this is what i'm looking to get rid of.

Perhaps pull clip and cab junk frame, bed and V6 on the GMC.
Remove the front suspension on the 67 GMC frame and scrap from tranny forward (keep bed and leaf suspension rear end with bed for trailer.
Pull bed from 68 Frame and junk frame.
Pull bed from 69 Four door and junk.
Junk front clip from 71 WHite

Lots to do idea is to get rid of "junk" and keep only what I have plans for or need

Sad day indeed. Do you have plans for that '67 GMC front clip?

Re: Sad Day, Farm clean up has seriously kicked in

Sorry but this is not a for sale add... I tried to sell things as complete or semi complete projects parts... GOt very little action on them.

I dont live where these are located and parting out small items is a PITA not to mention not worth the gas prices right now. Sadly I had two choices. Reduce on my own and scrap or let my dad pick what he wanted to get rid of when he calles the local scrap guy out to get the place cleaned up.

Doing what I have to do.

If I post items up for sale it will be in the parts section. If you want to ask I have no problem answering but it needs to be a PM as we dont want the Mods to flag this post.

Thanks,
THomas

Right now the front clip is scheduled to be parted but most of it kept. RH fender good, front bumper good, grill dented, lh fender rusted. Inner fenders good and both battery boxes useable. Core support not so good.

I need most of it for my two 67 GMC projects. Wanting to replace a 68 fender and bad bumper. Keeping Camper special emblems to go onto my short step when done.

I feel your pain. Every once in awhile I feel the need to cull my stockpile. It's hard to do, but necessary. Hopefully you will be able to keep what you need.

Robosaurus got that dodge and mustang! I'd like to see pics of the vehicles being lifted up! Its a shame more of the truck parts aren't selling now but you can't keep everything. That 67 GMC looks like a keeper though.

I wish I could come out with a trailer. I think you could get someone to at least match the scrap value on those parts. It would be worth the fuel money from back here in Maryland and back for a load. I'm sure a member within 500 miles would come and get that stuff.I sure hope those Camper Cruiser and GMC Custom fender emblems don't get scrapped. Let me know what you want for them before.

Thats probably true, but when there is no place else to store them and I dont have the time to strip them down to ever nut and bolt some things just have to go. I'll regret it the first time I have to buy something I got rid of like trim or a visor....

Sadly thats true. Plus I have really lost interest in collecting every truck I came across. One or two and thats all I need right now. I've pulled most everythign I need, I think... but I know I'll regret it once I find that part I need that was tossed away.

that GMC has been sitting there since 2005 (camper special) I've only kept it for trim and the front clip... ANd I ask myself Why? I should have pulled the parts years ago and tossed the cab.

not crushing it only the front part of the frame as I was going to keep it to make a trailer bed. Sorry,Not at farm any longer.

GMC cab was wasted, rockers, floors, corners had been heavy bondoed before. Even inside roof was wasted. Left other photo of scrapper this time the claw... if you are talking about the White GMC, I've got a short bed frame scheduled for it. I had it up for sale as a complete truck but no one seriously wanted it.

They trucks are not located near me. I go there often but not to pull parts...

Emblems are saved, will go on my 67 GMC short step. Might look odd but will get attention. A dealer i'm sure would love these for the parts, I dont need four extra windows, vent windows and am radio's I stripped what I needed, wanted. I offered that white cab up for sale several times.. No action... zero...

71 Chyenne, Rusted out, doors rotten, clip full of bondo just like cab. I pulled most options off and if someone could tell me how to get the headliner trim out w/out breaking it I';ll take the headliner out. NO title

67 GMC Camper sepcial. Cab rusted out same as above. Front clip, rad support cut and rusted, LH fender Rusted out. Gril dented ( I pulled front clip for future use as it is worth it. No title.

59 CHevy-0 rusted out POS was full of holes from gun fire and fire, as well as no title. When we rolled this cab it folded like a house of cards.

71 Bed I cut the good fender out and the running boards/stepss...

Sorry I need that fender myself. its a 67 w/out turn signal. the other one has been filled in that I have and then bondoed over. I tell you if I had the time to strip every car I've taken to the scrap yard and gone to a swap meet I could have made some money. Sadly I just dont have the time not living where I store them.

In my neighborhood I cant leave them in my driveway and there is no room in my garage.

Re: Sad Day, Farm clean up has seriously kicked in

67mach1, i feel your pain. i done the same thing a few months back. hard to pass up a "deal" on a parts truck, but when all your project funds are spent buying parts truck with little return it has to be done. i kept all the parts i needed to finish up my 69 and 70, and the rest i tried to sell. not much luck with that either, i give more of it away to locals that i knew would use the parts than i sold. you are not alone....good luck with your projects.

Re: Sad Day, Farm clean up has seriously kicked in

THanks for the voices of support. I wish I didnt have to get rid of everything, mostly everything. I plan on keeping two 67 GMC's that will be short beds, and the 70 Chevy Suburban. It is hard to believe that I've had as many as 20 trucks out at the farm and currently have 7 including the suburbans now. Add to that the 5 67 Mustangs, and 5 or so mid 80's fox mustangs and thats even too many. By next weekend I hope to be down one or two more or at least get a few more ready for the next steps of combining long beds to shorts.

Hopefully with the next round of scrap and clean up I'll get the folks off my back and can get back to fixing and not tearing up.

Re: Sad Day, Farm clean up has seriously kicked in

Took to scrap yard and with all the extra metal I stuffed into the cabs it was 3650lbs. or roughly 320 dollars.

I was shocked at the weight.

Hopefully next weekend I can convince my dad to let me take some other scrap items and leave the trucks as at least I'm making progress.

Scrap prices will probably be higher year after year. Tell the folks they're invested in not gold or silver, but iron.
