What is it?

Can anybody tell me what this (in the circle) and what it does. It's on my 65 c-10. All I know is that it has something to do with the cooling system.Name: What is it.jpg

Re: What is it?

Now that is funny. My thoughts exactly. Some thoughts on surgery in this link...

I eventually found those block-off plates and whenever I get around to doing it, I'm gonna crush that thing.

Flux Capacitor.

It needs 1.21 gigawatts to operate.

If you go 88 mph it takes you back to the future, however out trucks topped out at 55 mph from the factory.

Re: What is it?

If you're not going to use it could I trade you for it? (paper with pictures of dead presidents) I'm trying to go back OEM and cannot find one to fit mine. I need one for my ride.

Re: What is it?

You could go in-cab like jimmydean said. It doesn't work as well because it only recurulates the interior air vs being able to drawing from the cowl.

I should have made my post more clear. I just need a core to fit my box. No onemake a true replacement any more.

I use it during the winter, the heat anyway, didn't know that was what it was. In order to get AC i guess i need to add a compressor huh?

BUT... it is functional and one of the easiest ever made in regards to servicing the heater core.
  • Ever had an under dash heater core fail?
  • Smell antifreeze for a month because the underdash heater core dumped antifreeze all over the inside of the truck when it failed?
  • Stood on your head for an hour turning blue under the dash trying to remove the heater core?
  • Dumped even more anti freeze all over the floor and carpeting as you are removing the heater core?
Once you have experienced all the above that hideous heater set-up on the firewall will start to look so much better.

Re: What is it?

Lake,

All true, thats why I got rid of the underdash internal model (also, no defrost)and opted for the "delux" fire wall. If we could JUST get reliable correct cores, so as not to chiop up the box to make them fit.
