Fire victim

This is going to be my last posting. I spent most of my time on here reading and less on posting but I have been around for a few years. I lost my home in the August 30th wildfires in Oklahoma City. Nothing on my property was spared save for a few trees and my generator in the shed go figure. My pickup suffered the same fate as everything else. I am adding pictures to show the damage to it and also to ask if it useful to someone or should I scrap it? I hate to let go but I believe it is time to move on at this point. Thank you for all of your help and advice over the years it was greatly appreciated. Dan

Re: Fire victim

I am sorry to hear of your loss, too.

To answer your question: I think it has to be scrapped. Even large chunks of stuff that seems pretty robust, like engine blocks, heads and internals could probably not be trusted to perform correctly.

Re: Fire victim

Thank you everyone. It is just my son and I so we are doing good. Insurance is taking care of things right now. We are waiting on them to let us know what it is going to cost to rebuild. We got out with the clothes on our backs and that was it. I was working at the time otherwise I might have saved at least somethings. My son said just look at it this way we get to start fresh. Can't go wrong with that thinking. Thank you Keith Seymore for the answer I was looking for. I was hoping to salvage something out of it but I think it is best to let it go.

Re: Fire victim

So sorry about everything. Sounds like your son has a great attitude. Save something off it to put on your next one....a shifter knob, fender emblem, key chain something. Best of luck in whatever you do.

Re: Fire victim

first I would like to say Im glad to here you guys are ok. I don't know. looking at that last picture and seeing that the outer heater box was not melted maybe it didn't get frame damaging/warping hot. If you really loves these old trucks like many of us do on here and you would possibly have the means to. I would try and keep it and bring it back to life. it would need alot of work and It would probably never be the way it was before the fire, but think of the character it would have and the story that would go with it in the years to come. maybe you and your son could do the work together. project "Adversity". I bet there would even be forum members willing to donate parts to help, if you decide to go that route. I cant begin to image what your feeling, but like everything else, this too will pass. these are just my thoughts, and I wish you and your son well.

oh and i wouldn't do a thing to the body, Patina is the in thing right now.

good luck to you!
