Need help with tail lights

I have a 68 stepside. Are the tail lights supposed to be on when you turn your head lights on. I have right and left blinkers. I have brake lights, but when I turn the headlights on - the tail lights do not come on and my brake lights do not work with head lights on. Any help would be appreciated.

Yes, the tail lights come on with the headlights.

You might have better luck if you have the Mods move this to the electrical forum....

Re: Need help with tail lights

do the park and dash lights come on with your headlights? if not you might have a blown fuse. That's the problem I fought for awhile till I fixed some bad wiring under the bed.

Re: Need help with tail lights

break lights work when the lights are off, but not when they are on.. so you are putting a ground back through the switch when the lights are on. usually where the wires cross a metal object.. pinched wires from an old trailer hook up is the most common..

Re: Need help with tail lights

Thanks for the replys - it appears that it was just a loose harness at the light switch. I removed it and put it back and everything works fine now.
