AR WTB lower tailgate patch panel, like this one on ebay

Wanting to buy the lower inside patch panel for a 67-72 tailgate, like this one they have on ebay , just thought maybe someone had one they might not have used laying around

fixed it for you Has anyone used these to comment how well they line up? I wonder why they went through the trouble of making the upper portion? Mine all have rusted at the very bottom edge....maybe to take care of dents at the bottom?

it will have to be a very straight inside lower piece, as you know those are usually bowed and dented up ?? but if it is a good straight one i would love to have it

it is pretty straight (hence my original purchase of it), though there is a small piece that was cut out for access purposes. i will take pics & if still wanted it is yours, if not no biggie.....

were you thinking of shipping the whole gate, or were you thinking of cutting off the bottom inside of the gate and shipping it ? if you cut off the bottom you could then cut the bottom in half (and i can weld it back together when i get it ) and we could get it in alot smaller box then ?? either way works for me , let me know what i owe you for your time and shipping thanks Mike (i think when you see what i am going to do with it , you will like it !! its going to a good home) LOL

i think it would be easier for me to just ship the whole thing.... i have the box that my new tailgate came in. the gate has a cutout piece so weight should not be a big issue. i should be able to "box" it up for ya in the next day or so. as far as cost goes i will probably ship greyhound (unless you want something different) i will get the cost info & let you know (guessing around $80 - $100) if that sounds good then i'll move foward, if not let me know .......

one more quick question, when you cut out the pieces what kind of shape was the inside of the panels in ?? surface rust only, rusted with pits ?? i am asking because , the way that i am using this piece the inside will be the outside ....i know that doesnt make a bit of sense but it will when you see what i am doing with it, thanks Mike

the inside portion is in good shape, just a few small areas of light surface rust. the front of the gate has filled trim holes & the portion that would say cheverolet/gmc is cut out. my original plan for the gate was to "fill" the outside to be smooth all the way across & add a reverse handle kit. i decided to get a new gate & cut down on the amount of work i would do. your plan sounds interesting. i will check UPS for you & let ya know....
