Re: RPO Code help

Nice find, I put one in by truck years ago had to push in the cowl a bit on the passenger side to allow the valve cover to be removed.

That's what it says on my sheet page 65, Jonz. Do you think that's incorrect?

Re: RPO Code help

As far as the brochure says above its a 409..and its an 80 series truck too. I found it in a junkyard just this past week. 63 stubnose with a factory 409, 5 speed Spicer trans, 4 wheel drive heavy duty truck...what would that be worth? it was tapped up front but only got the hood the rest is fixable.

Re: RPO Code help

I'm sure you could sell the motor for as much as you could sell the truck.

Re: RPO Code help

He is asking 1800 for the whole truck and its got a big winch bed on it that I have no interest in but he said if he could keep the bed then the price will drop. Im mainly just wanting the motor and trans. its a power steering truck too, but i will try to get pictures of it next time I am there. It is hard to get to and is surrounded by old junk so we will see what i can get.

haha, I didn't read the sheet, too small on my monitor, I had just remembered the code was written on my glovebox manual on the 409 truck I parted out.

priceles to some of us, restored that would be socool and rare with the 4x4. his 18-25 for the engine, and probably $500 in scrap for all the parts that won't interchange with the c 10, if it has a factory tach and air guage dash cluster those go for $250+
if it is a lcf the cab is just a tiny bit different than a c10, but still might be a good doner for some ones rusty project.
rust free straight doors might net you another $150-200 each, and a good winshield is probably $100.....
so it would probably be a gold mine in parts if you are in a spot where people are looking/building these trucks.

really hope to see pics , I only have one picture of a 60-80 series 4x4

Re: RPO Code help

Bostrom bucket seats, bench or passenger fixed seat? So much easier when we have pictures.

Re: RPO Code help

Sorry for the late update here. Went and took a look at the truck a little further. I may or may not have borrowed the NAPCO Power pak 4 wheel drive emblems for $hits and giggles. The truck is black and the top of the hood is about 6 feet from ground level. It has hydraulic brakes on it with no tach either, which is disappointing. But it has a standard bench seat and the doors are mint! Of course they are perfect when I cant use them on my 66. But the 409 is still nestled in it waiting to see daylight again

Re: RPO Code help

The Napco drivetrain might be worth as much or more than the 409

What makes the Napco 4wd so valuable?

Re: RPO Code help

Take some pictures, especially the doors, so I'll feel even worse not being closer!
