Opinions on a Billet Specialties wheel please?

My plan is a Hugger orange big block 68 stepper, (in my build) white top, white grille 4.5 / 6" drop and a mild Cnotch. (prob Porterbuilt, but I haven't decided yet) Could use some advice there too.

F - 20x8.5 with 5.25 BS. 255/40/20
R - 20x8.5 with ~4.875 BS 255/45/20

Billet Specialties Dagger G - I like the gray for the vintage look, should I go polished? The truck will be shop logo'ed by my pop.

Coley's Rod Shop, something like that. Dad is a commercial artist and amazing at freehand logos and design. I'm not hesitating for a second for him to logo this one as I'm not building it to resell. My son will get it one day.

I saw this wheel at the Shades of the Past and I really like the dished look.

Your thoughts?

Re: Opinions on a Billet Specialties wheel please?

if your gonna spend the money might as well go polished if not there are cheaper wheels out there for just a shop look. and with those colors i cant see gray, i see nice and shiny. just my thoughts, its your truck and your decision.

I agree...if not polished just get coys, boss 338's or the new wheel that looks like them but fits better

Probably half price of the billet specialties...

Now...if polished...the billet specialties will be a much nicer rim overall and I do like the styling of those...

Re: Opinions on a Billet Specialties wheel please?

Great choice in wheels.
Measure, measure, measure, before ordering.
I'd rather have a 5.5" BS up front. (with a 20x8.5" wheel)

Re: Opinions on a Billet Specialties wheel please?

Keith - would a 255/40/20 work up front with stock inner fenders? I have 2.5" spindles, one coil and a big chunk of iron between the frame rails.

20x8.5 - 5.5" BS and the 255/40. What are your thoughts on the max tire height / diameter? Would I be better off with 255/35 ? They are 27.05" tall.

After talking to you on my other post with the Coys, I bought one of the Percy's Wheelrites and it helped a TON. Thanks again for your help with backspacing. I'm getting really close on these wheels. My wife saw them and actually picked them out as her favorites from the Billet Specialties display last weekend. I like them a lot.

Torn between gray and polished though .. humm. They have more of a dished look than a Coys C5 (Concave maybe is a better word) and just a different overall look. Nothing against Coys or 338's I just want something different.

There is a reason a bunch of people have Coys and 338s, they look awesome no doubt.

The reason I say 5.5" BS is because that is the exact BS we measured up for Nates truck.
(Billet Specialties Vintecs 20x8.5's up front).
Nate's truck is dropped 4.5/6 with ECE products.
He still has his inner fenders.
Toyo 255/40-20 tire.

I don't mention his rear wheels because they won't work with a stepside bed.

Wow, it's you again.... I think you have made it known to the entire board (several times) that you "don't care for new school 20s" are just looking to pursuade people from buying 20s or what?

back on topic,, I think the grey wheels would look nice with that theme. But any 20" BS wheel is gonna look fantastic!!

Like mentioned earlier, measure measure measure!!

Re: Opinions on a Billet Specialties wheel please?

The Daggers look awesome! The 5.25 BS will work up front, but 5.5 may clear the inner fenders a little better. It all depends on the look you're after- some people don't like the tucked-in effect. You could also try a 275/40-20 out back, to give you a little bit of a 'rubber rake' and a little wider tire. The grey will look great on orange/white

As stated before, if you can afford Billet Specialties, go for it, the quality is no comparison to the other off the shelf or 'make it work' wheels.

Re: Opinions on a Billet Specialties wheel please?

My dad and I sold the 68 stepper - "Miss Daisy" as he named it. A guy from New Jeyouurseie is coming down to pick it up tomorrow with cash - ~ fingers crossed ~ (NJ, just kidding btw) $4,350 - we're going to split it ..

I think I know where my 1/2 might be going. I am 99% sure I am going this route, will probably do the polished ones.

Thanks for all your input and opinions.

Re: Opinions on a Billet Specialties wheel please?

As soon as the deal on the 68 is done tomorrow abour 4pm, I'll drop the money in the bank and place the order Monday or Tues. I'm a bit skiddish till the guy pulls away and we have the money you just never know. It will be a while before I get them but I will put them on just to take some pics. I'm going to keep my truck rallys on while I'm sanding around on it. Once I get it straight I plan to pull it back down to a rolling chassis and finalize my C notch, etc. Just take it back up from there. It might be spring before it starts coming back together.

I am going to do 5.5 BS in the front. Nate's truck is one of my all time favorites. .. looks awesome.

i have porterbilts mild c notch on my truck and it is a very nice piece and gives you plenty of drop as long as you dont want to lay frame and actually lets you have a very good looking ride height. my truck is in process but i will post some pics of my rear c notch - all of porterbilts stuff is top notch in my opinion

hope your project goes well

Re: Opinions on a Billet Specialties wheel please?

IMO.... if you're only going to run a 6" drop in the rear, a notch is not needed. That's my opinion.

If you're tires end up being taller than a 295/40 in the rear, maybe, but I have only bottomed out once (no snubbers) and I was just pushing it to hard for the terrain.

Also, there is no other wheel company IMO.

I'm extremely happy with my BS wheels and would order from them again; and personally I'm pro grey center.

Re: Opinions on a Billet Specialties wheel please?

Working with n2billet on my order, I went with the gray ones.

I restored a 69 Camaro a few years ago and when I bought the car as a driver it was a really nice shade of blue. It was faded, but really a sharp color. We built a color match to it starting with Marina Blue from the 66 Chevelle for example. Added about 6 more toners to it and man it is beautiful IMO. I'll post pics, I still have a little in a can.

I'll post pics once the wheels come in.
