Possible new 60-66 member; 65 C10 w/83K

Customer's brother-in-law passed away and left this lady with a 1965 C-10 with 83,000 miles on it. This is a Calif. truck with a 6 cylinder, Air conditioning and a 4 spd. That's all I know until she sends me some pics. She's asking $3,000 and says the body is straight except the little rust on the bottom of the driver's door. She says her brother is going to fix this with bondo. (I told her to skip that).
I have no clue about the going price for these trucks since I sold my '63 15 years ago.
Does this sound like a good deal ? It comes with a camper on it. Thanks-Brian
Pics to follow when I have them.

Pictures will tell, but you don't get much for that kind of money today. Sounds like a great deal. Advise will cost you pictures though, so your now in debt!

Thanks. I did get some pics but they were WAY too big and you can't see a thing. I think she's new to email. Will post any usable future pics. Brian

OK here's what I have after using an sditing program (hope this works).

She mentioned that they were replacing the water pump.

That camper is too cool. It looks like there is a sliding canopy on the back to give you extra shade.

Yeah, that's one of the things she mentioned. Some kind of slide-out awning.
Good eyes there Slow Build.

How rare is AC on one of these? You can see the old York type compressor in the first pic.

by look of the bracket, I don't think that the a/c is OEM.

Re: Possible new 60-66 member; 65 C10 w/83K

I paid $3000. for my 64 C10 that was in way better shape than the one you are looking at.

Looks like you have some rust issues in the front as well as the door you mentioned.

Not sure but I would not pay $3K for that truck.

Re: Possible new 60-66 member; 65 C10 w/83K

Well, happy about the 292 option (thanks for the tip) I guess I'll go out and kick the tires a bit and give her a low-ball offer like $2100 IF it looks restorable.Frankly I think they are in over their heads with this thing. She says "Oh,my brother is replacing the fuel pump" but when I looked at the pics close up in their original huge format, I could see that things weren't right in that engine compartment. I'll go out there and have a look-see.Take a few pics and post en up.- Brian

Re: Possible new 60-66 member; 65 C10 w/83K

In Michigan, I think that would sell for the asking price in about, oops!!! already sold!

That thing looks straight, has minimal (almost mandatory) rust and I can't see any damage - not that the pictures show it all. I guess it would come down to the interior and if I found any problems created by a shadetree mechanic.

And that camper! It's awesome! I hope the truck is sweet, she takes your offer and John gets the camper.

The OEM configuration has the compressor and plumbing on the passenger side of the engine compartment. I'm guessing it's an underdash unit.

Do you have any interior pictures?

What do you guys think that camper is worth? It looks like it's in pretty good condition and you don't see anything that cool everyday. I would think it would be worth at least a grand by itself.

Re: Possible new 60-66 member; 65 C10 w/83K

Went to look just now and here's the good; Wood bed is absolutely Mint and the inside of bed is perfect.
The dash and interior are real good.
The camper is a Pullman and is pretty cool. It forms the rear of the bed so there is no tailgate. Guy said he'd look aroung the garage for it (right).
The old guy working on it told me the motor was a 232 high torque something-or-other but it looked like a standard old 250/292 to me. The engine mounts were staggered so I would bet it is a 292.
The bad; rust and bondo pass side, hood, rockers both sides with gapping holes.
I didn't offer on it mainly because I saw too much work and expense.Plus didn't want to look too interested anyway.
Tires were all real rotten on split-rims.
Heavy trailer hitch with a trailer brake controller in the cab so I would suspect the drive line.
They didn't have it running yet.
PICs;
