I want to install an electric fan in my '71 1/2 ton. The problem I'm facing is limited space between the radiator and water pump pulley. I measured a Lincoln Mark VIII fan+shroud but it was too wide for the gap. I have only about 5" of room to play with.

What type of electric fan do you guys use; the entire depth has to be < or = to 5"?

I would prefer a stock type fan and shroud because the fans without the shroud don't really work in my opinion.

Ours are 4 3/4" deep over all. They won't even be that deep once it is installed depending on the manufacturer of the radiator you have. Here is a picture of the duel 12" stainless steel assembly that we offer. It comes with everything you need for instalation including the thermostat. Has anyone mounted an electric fan at the end of the stock fan shroud before? It seems like that would be nearly ideal, as it would create a manifold from which to pull air in across the whole radiator.

Just thinking out loud here...

I'm using a mid 90's Crown Vic fan. It's 4" deep. The fan is 19" Here's a picture.

Thanks 70c10, I got it from a local metal shop. It came from a sheet of aluminum, I told them the size I wanted and where to bend it.
