extensive cab repair

I'm ordering a crap load of patch parts to basicly rebuild the floors in my cab this week. I would prolly replace the cab but there's not one around in the wrap around style. Anyway, I'm going to attempt to pull the cab off the fram tomorrow. My question is do I need to somehow brace the cab before cutting the floor sections out? And if so are there pictures or a diagram of how it should be braced?

just "X" brace should do.... rr to fl and the lf to fr. mount it up high enough that you can still do you work, but low enough to keep the floor integrity...
also just do 1 piece at a time, don't cut all of it out at once.

Oh and I have a secondary cab repair quietion. Should I remove my glass before removing the cab from the frame and working on it? If so how? Thnx everyone for looking.

Right Rear to Front Left
Left Rear to Front Right

As for the glass...it's not necessary to remove it but you will have to in order to paint the interior of the cab.

Protect your glass if your not painting under the rubber. Grinding and torches can leave molten steel embedded in the glass.

when you say Rr to fl and lf to fr do you mean a x brace through the cab or just in place of the doors? stupid question i know but im just curious lol, ill be pulling my cab soon after i get the glass out and i dont wanna mess up.

sorry i was probably sleep typing
I would do the brace through the cab, and then weld the center of the"X"
you could also add two braces in the door frames to keep them in line, so from the top it would look like this: |X|
I did something similar when I chopped the top on my 60 build in my signature V

To remove the windows do I need to just get a piece of wire and work it around the seal? Or is there a better way? The front window will have to be replaced but the back window is in good shape. Because I have to replace the front floor pan and out rear pan as well as the piller inner and outer rockers and cab pounts. I was going to do one half at a time.

Anything on the window removal? I'm fuxxin to go strip everything out of the cab and figure out how to remove it by myself lol..

is the gasket good or bad? If it's bad just cut it out with a razor blade and have someone help you move the glass once it's free. Careful you don't crack it, that old glass will be brittle, and your generations glass is a PITA to install and expensive to replace.

i just did my glass last night, cut the inner gasket, grabbed ahold of it with some needle nose pliers,pulled till i had enough to grab with my hands and then just pulled it all free, had a buddy hold the window in place,did the same for the back, now i have to nice windows in my garage on the lounge couch, trying to decide what to do with them to keep them safe.

thanks for the help man! i realized today that i have to replace the whole floor pan so the "door|X|door" idea is perfect, ill do the same to my door frames also, thanks tow guys.

yup that diagram for the X and door bracing helped a lot. Ill be pulling the window by myself so Ill just have to go slow.

take tape and tape the top of the outside of the front window to the roof then go slow pulling the gasket, id wait till you have a friend to help with the back,itll make it less stressful.

if i was closer id swing by, in your case tape will be your best friend, duct tape will be your best bet, should be the strongest to hold the window up while you move around to grab it.
