69 3sp OD trans

1969 3sp OD trans complete with linkage and pull handle. Pull handle has a couple of chips, but since its plastic it could be repaired with a little body filler and some shiny black paint.

I did drive this truck so I know the 3sp part of the trans works. But I did not drive it on the Hwy, so no idea if the OD part is in working order.

I want to get 200 bucks out of this set up. If you want the trans and the linkage and are local its yours. Too heavy to deal with shipping.

Since I had a couple people on and off the board ask me about just the brackets and linkage. I would sell just that and ship to the lower 48. But I need to get 200 bucks. This stuff is the real value part of the deal.

Please dont jack this into an OD tech thread. There are lots of em already here on the board. =)

Sorry this is a bit blurry, truck is in a tight spot and its hard to lean in.

Trans is still in the truck. The way its sitting is very hard to get pics. Sorry its just too big and greasy to deal with shipping.

Re: 69 3sp OD trans

Well it looks like I may end up having to ship the whole thing if I want to get rid of it. If I do the price is going to go up. Im going to have do clean it all and figure out a way to pack it securely.

Ill post a shipped price when I figure out how much the trans weighs and get a close guesstimate on shipping.

Re: 69 3sp OD trans

I'm in if it can be shipped reasonably. Maybe Greyhound or I have a commercial address at 68467. I would like to have the overdrive harness complete with the relay on the firewall near the brake booster and the OD cable with screws and of course the kick down switch on the carb. Would also like the carb or at least that little paddle lever that hits the kickdown switch under full throttle. I believe it should be bolted on the carb linkage or if not it is the complete carb. I have had one shipped in a GM parts shipping container with the input shaft sticking out one end by UPS before. Let me know. Thanks, Mark

Re: 69 3sp OD trans

I can still pick it up to install it by myself and it did go UPS back 3 years ago. So isn't there a maximum weight of 70lbs for UPS? I would have to say that's the area of weight. That is just the transmission and no bell housing or clutch.

Re: 69 3sp OD trans

I have one in my 56 Bel Air with the old three on the tree and this style of late 60's overdrive so I may as well have a spare or keep it for a future project. My wife or kids don't know how to drive it but I love it. Mark

Hmm, I think you are correct. Hopefully I can finish getting this pulled tomorrow and weigh everything. I will post a shipped price to you and HOTFUN.

Like I said, because I have to spend a bunch of extra time cleaning and packing, plus the cost of shipping its going to be more than 200 plus shipping.

Mark

Re: 69 3sp OD trans

Here we go again with the buying rules again. WHERE did a line form here? I am the one who said I would take pending the shipping quote. I have had one shipped before so I know about what to expect. We just ran into this same problem on the NOS lockouts and I stepped aside that time. Just being interested does not mean I'll take it. I was the one who said I was in for it and working with the parts included and shipping details and waiting for the removal to figure the final shipping options. Not to be on the soap box here but this tire kicking classified forum needs to get back to the basics of first one with the cash and says I'll take it buys it or we might as well end the classifieds and sell it all on eBay so we don't just make enemies here. Mark

Re: 69 3sp OD trans

Sigh, I'm just trying to do what seems right. Maybe I'm wrong, maybe I'm not. I'm not out to mess with anyone. I have something to sell, but said I wouldn't ship. Someone from Texas was "interested", but said too bad I wont ship. I dunno, maybe I'm "interested" in that case was different?. Either way now someones going to be pissed, and all I was trying to do was give a board member a decent deal on a hard to find part.

I hate this kind of stuff because now it makes me out to be some sort of jerk or something. And anyone that has dealt with me here on the board or in person knows this just isn't what I'm about.

I'm going to talk to a board Admin and get their advice. I'm very sorry this has taken a bad turn =(

Re: 69 3sp OD trans

Hotfun, as you can see in the top part of the thread, I put I am interested if you can ship, at that time he was not shipping. Then he said he would ship a few days later, after he get the trans pulled. Yes, I have bought 4 standard transmissions over the years and I know what it cost to ship them. Plus I listed my zip code for price quote if he decided to ship. Plus its kinda hard to send payment, when you don't have price for shipping.

Anyway, I am not going to make a big deal out of this. Whatever he decides or admin decides is fine with me.

I just need to know shipping cost before i pull the trigger. I have been in one of these situation before when shipping should have only been 85 - 100$ and the guy wanted 375$ for shipping. So thats what i need to know.

Have a great day.

Re: 69 3sp OD trans

Whatever. I respect Marks position with being fair here but we are right back to the NOS blue knob listing and again the first to say I'll take it and for the listed price is the first in line. Interested can mean anyone who opened the thread to check on the item was interested in the item. Good luck with the sale and I hope the star burst OD gear is good in the case since that is the gamble on an unknown working tranny. I have found a fewbad overdrives but still would love to have it for my 59 Apache pickup. Let me know. Mark

Re: 69 3sp OD trans

When it comes to the hubs I believe it was a fair question to ask before spending close to 500 dollars on a part. I have had someone in the past be first, say they will take it, and then change their mind a week later.

This will probably make people unhappy, but I'm just going to try and sell the trans at the swap meet this weekend. I have a few other smaller items to sell. What doesn't sell there I will list them here only if they are small enough to stick in a box and ship to the lower 48. After that I wont sell anything here on the board again. It is truly not worth going through this sort of thing. I consider all of you my "truck buddies" and want to keep it that way.

If you look at my history on this board (close to ten years now), you will see I have been a stand up guy in all ways. I wont delete this thread so people can read it and judge me how they want.
