changing leaf rear to coil

OK i haven't been on here in a long LONG time and my truck is scattered. My biggest thing i'm running into looking for parts to put it back together is my father ordered the truck with leaf rear. I want to lower it and I know i can get new lowering springs or have mine dearched but there is so much more stuff for the coil spring rears. Would i benifit any to convert to coil rear? I'm a poor man.... mechanic.... and a small budget. Its just going to be a drivers nothing fancy just something my wife and i to enjoy.

Unless you can find a donor frame it would be cheaper to buy lowered single leaf springs or de-arc what you have. There's a lot of logistics you have to contend with by just doing a swap.

Re: changing leaf rear to coil

A lot of guys like the coil rear better for the ride. Using a single leaf lowering spring is going to decrease your hauling ability. I swapped mine from leaf to coil and it wasn't that hard at all. As said, the best thing would be to have a donor truck. But even without one, you can find all the parts pretty easily here or at a junkyard. The biggest problem is that you'll have to fab something up for shock mounts. Like I said, I've done it so if you have any questions just ask.
