Re: any one try to paint these?

I have seen several pictures of them painted black, and/or powdercoated. I think you'd have to sandblast them and powdercoat them, paint will just scratch right off. Personally I think those are the prettiest wheels GM has ever had, I love chrome and polished aluminum, and I am sick and tired of the black wheel phenomenon. I'd hate to see a beautiful wheel ruined like that. Can't wait for the ugly black wheel fad to go away.

just my opinion.

I hear you on the black wheels, some can look nice but around here the trend is rattle can the factory wheels on everything black and its fugly. Those might look decent if the lip was left polished and maybe the slots.

You can powder coat aluminum. If you really want to paint those good looking wheels, I'm about 99% sure they are clear anodized. Anodize is a great paint base, scuff them with scotchbrite, use a quality 2 part primer, and paint them. They should hold up as good or better than any other painted wheel.

I agree with the black wheel fad! Every wheel that I have coated has been black! (Gloss, Flat, Semi Gloss) Can't seem to get anyone to try a different color.
If you want to coat them, look into Candy Black. It has a black hue to it, and you still can see the chrome through it.

I will have to check into that sounds pretty damn sweet to me. Ya I do like black rims on some rigs but there are so damn many people up here running them I am tired of seeing them on almost every rig haha! I think a powder coat on those rims would look pretty cool as well.
