Had a garage sale today...

So a friend of mine had a baby boy 5 weeks ago tomorrow. Long story short he has a disease that is curable but he needs an operation that is gonna cost 11k out of pocket that my buddy doesn't have. So a bunch of us donated random stuff and had a one day garage sale today to donate the proceeds. We assumed we'd make a few hundred to donate to the cause, but all said and done we ended up over 3k!!! There was a ton of stuff that rolled in this morning from random people that a lot of us didn't even know, they simply heard about the cause and that every penny was being donated. Flat out awesome! I had several people way over pay for stuff and a few that said there was nothing there they needed but here's 10 or 20 bucks. I just thought I'd share as it put a smile on my face after all the bad stuff you hear all day, it was really cool seeing a community come together like that. Sorry no pics as I didn't think it was gonna be nearly as big as it was and once it got that big, I was too busy for pics!

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Way to go! I'm glad the sale was so successful. My best wishes on raising the remainder of the $11k. That boy deserves a chance on life.

Re: Had a garage sale today...

Thanks guys! It was a little overwhelming seeing all the people come out of the wood work to help or donate, even the kids set up a lemonade stand once the clouds parted and the sun came out, they did over 200 dollars in sale of lemonade, cupcakes and cookies! The operation is scheduled for next monday, and he will be billed for the left over so he can make payments on it. We just wanted to help take a bit of the strain off if we could... He was layed off for 3 months in the beginning of the year so savings is pretty well tapped. I'm usually a "you made your bed, now you gotta sleep in it" guy, but not this time, it was awesome to know we helped out so much! And in this economy to see the giving nature of all the neighbors was incredible!

Great Sunday morning wake up story. Do they have any kind of account set up at a bank or anything for them?

Re: Had a garage sale today...

I don't know if they have paypal, I know they don't have any donation type thing set up this was just a few friends sitting around having beers trying to think of what we could do to help. I really wasn't trying to solicite donations here and I'm not sure that's allowed. I will see what the BOD says about it and see about setting up an actual account for it as I would feel better doing it into a bank account specifically set up for that use than using a personal paypal. You guys are awesome that you would even think about donating. I will get a flyer we had printed about the baby and see what I can do about setting something up, thanks again! This is the topper to an already great weekend. Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers as well, you guys rock!
