Project Pocket Change 1955 Chevy 1st series
Well here we go again. I sold my first AD truck I built back in March and have been looking for another project the past few weeks. Low and behold my mother in law told me she was behind a barn in their families home place and found a "BIG TRUCK". Me having a one track mind all i could think about what was this old big truck she was talking about. The next time I was in town I went looking and guess what i found? Another AD I was pumped until I got to looking at all the rot. So I went back home disapointed and began to mull over just parting it out. After a few days I began to convince myselt it wasnt as bad as I thought. I talked to a few board members that began to give me home with some of the major parts I was going to need. One it the beltline that seems like it is going to be a booger to replace, and the other is lack of frame. Thanks to layedoutsonoma and xpickup on thestwo issues. I plan to either make my own bed or get an old one around my parents house that is off a 60's chevy and modify it to fit. So if you followed my first build I did the s10 swap but I plan to take a different route with this one. I plan on being very cost effective with this build, as we are expecting baby #3 any day. I will have zero cost in the cab hood and front clip. So enough of talking lets start another build.

First purchase was a set of front floor pans. I know this is wishfull thinking but at least its a start to fixing the rot in the floor

Re: Project Pocket Change 1955 Chevy 1st series
actually not yet, I am still waiting for a chance to go and do that. We just had our 3rd child last thursday so we have been pretty busy. I am hoping in the next couple weeks to get up there and dig it out and load up the cab and front clip.

The joint below the back window should be interesting to fix. You guys are more ambitious than I am.

Re: Project Pocket Change 1955 Chevy 1st series
Yeah, that's the route I'd go to. Eliminate the seam altogether. Shouldn't really be worse than making the hood one piece would be huh? For what it's worth, I'd do it too.

Re: Project Pocket Change 1955 Chevy 1st series
Well I am still planning on starting this project.... I promise, I think.. I carried the chain saw and made some room to get around it to get some better pictures of some more of the rot to get some pieces fabbed up by a friend on the board. Here they are. this thing looks worse evrey time I go to see it. This must make me strange to look forward to begin her.

Wow, looks like a lot of work. But if you're anything like me it looks like a lot more fun. Definitely looking forward to seeing what you have in store for this one. Good luck!

Re: Project Pocket Change 1955 Chevy 1st series
No idea. Long enough for it to get buried up over the frame. The tires are rotted off and the seat is gone all but for springs. But i also looked at some of the wiring under the hood and it looks brand new it is the oddest thing. My mother in law remembers the truck when she was a kid. My guess would be around 35 years.

Re: Project Pocket Change 1955 Chevy 1st series
Yeah, I am still planning on getting this one out. just trying to scrounge up the parts now so when its time to work on it I can start replacing all the rot. I have found a dash to replace just got to work the deal and found a set of doors and a hood and a rear fender that will add to the list of parts that need replacing, just got to get that deal worked out. Hoping this spring will be the time I can get it out of the woods.

Re: Project Pocket Change 1955 Chevy 1st series
You need to stop looking at it. I still remember when I pulled in the driveway were I got mine after a 2.5 hour drive saw this truck and my mind kept saying turn around turn around. But the heart says load it up. When I got it home and really looked at the heart said you should have turned around lol . Shes coming around now and is starting to look like a truck. You'll do fine Yank it out and dont look back enjoy

Re: Project Pocket Change 1955 Chevy 1st series
For the past few weeks I have been gathering some parts and I thought I would post one of the speedometer I ran across that I thought was a cool find. It is out of a Hudson and has a cool art deco feel to it. I now just need to find something to go in the other hole to kinda match it.
What do you guys/gals think I could find to match it somewhat.

britnjc, that is a cool looking gauge. When do you think you will be pulling the truck out? By the way the Mustang is looking great!
