Let me start off by saying that ive been a long time lurker but this is my first post. This forum seems to be one of the better ones dedicated to these trucks so hopefully I can contribute to the awesomeness.
Ok so I recently acquired this 86' stepside from my friend who just wanted it out of his yard. His dad bought the truck new back in 86' and my friend has had it since 97'. Unfortunately the trucks original 305 and muncie trans got toasted and were pulled out in favor of a larger motor and auto trans. Long story short the motor never went back in and the truck just sat in the yard for the last 5 years....Until now dun dun dun.
The truck is in reasonable shape but it does have a few pretty rough spots, the most critical of which being rust across the firewall. Other than that its just the usual cab corner, passenger floor, small rust hole on the rear of the roof, etc. The truck has a drop spindle up front and a dropped shacke in the rear. My plan is to get the rust repair handled, clean it up, drop in either a rebuilt 350 or possibly an LS or LQ motor if I can find a good enough deal (slim chance in Hawaii).
