I have never seen and have been told they were not available, but does anyone have an original SPID that shows two-tone black and white deluxe two-tone (White top and middle with black) on a '71-'72 SWB fleetside??

I dont have one from a shortbox but I do from a 3/4 ton sierra grande. I dont know if you were looking in general or just for a shortbox.

Back in those years ( before bean counters and computers ran the factorys ) the Big 3 would build you anything you wanted as long as the parts were compatible. With that being said if you could order a black and white GMC long box you could certainly order a black and white Chev short box even if it didnt show on the order sheets as they would do a COPO order and I think most of us know what the famous COPO cars were.

Are you looking for the paint code? Mine is 460- dont have a pic of my spid on hand but the the correct code is 460...

My 72 Super LWB is a factory Black/White truck. I dont have a picture of the SPID on my computer.

Don't know if this helps or not. The '69 truck data book I have shows a black body to have a code of 500. If it was a regular two-tone, it was a code 530. If it was the special two-tone, which was white roof, black main body and white below the lower body molding, the code was 586. This data from the paint chip chart in the book used by dealers to order the trucks from GM.

ChevroRay you are dealing with a 69 vs 71/72 paint code. The standard two tone is with white roof only, the deluxe two tone would have been in 69 below the bottom molding and the 71/ 72 would have been between the upper and lower - hence the 400 number. Any two tone in deluxe format was designated by 400 numbers for the line to prep and spray. This paint code is also located on the firewall and under the fender on the air inlet boxes where vents are located or at least that is where mine were located and on the SPID.
