Seats -Which one for TF big window

I'm trying to figure out which one to put in the truck.
Both will need modification to the brackets to make them fit.

1. Split bench from a Elco.
Pros: Will fit without too much work.
Cons: Will need seat belts, no power.

2, Buckets from a Sebring Convertible
Pros: Have beats built in, power.
Cons: Will need to modify the seat to move the belts holder down.

What's your opinion.

With the modification to the buckets seats both sets would sit below the bottom of the window.

I'd use the red one, because it will clear the center hump

I just threw my stock seat in my big window cab for the first time this weekend... and it sat higher than the rear window.
I figured out though that i probably have the backrest adjusted too high...

I'll go against the crowd and vote for the Sebring seats based upon the overall direction of your build. Modern seats to go with modern drive train & wheels.

Maybe, it's just me but trucks need a bench seat.

Re: Seats -Which one for TF big window

Don't you put that bench seat in that truck you will not be following your theme and you know it so stop looking for the easy way out.lol Bench seats are fine but not for your truck. The kind of truck you are building you have to come with it man you can't be slacking or settling. Since you are always commenting on what I should be doing, I will tell you what you should do and that is get better seats or chop those buckets seats down so they are below your back window. That's my opinion and I know you did not ask for it but hey I want your truck to be laid man so stick to your theme.

Remember you showed me what you wanted it to look like on the outside, well the interior has to match it. Hey you know me and you knew what I would think didn't you.lol

Yeah it is. I just too timid.lol

I've seen his truck in person and I've also talked to him about his plans for his exterior. All I saying is its got to match. Don't put on tennis shoes with a thousand dollar suit is all I'm saying.

Re: Seats -Which one for TF big window

I'm just busting your chops. I saw it too a couple weeks ago. Awesome work and a LOT of work too. And I know you did the clip - again, awesome.

I agree a vehicle typically has a theme and all parts of it need to go with that theme. My theme is extra clean, admirable driver. Using custom made bucket seats with a molded center console; while nice, would be out of character with that kind of theme. Agree?

I doubt Larry's settling. Somtimes its a "...forrest-for-the-trees" issue. The build has been going on long enough that it's tough to stay headed in a single direction. Tough not to lose sight of your original plan.

Dan I'm not worried about you busting my chops. I've already put you in the trouble maker section with the other people that find joy at my expense.lol

From the statement you've made you understand what I'm talking about, but I don't make excuses for tri5nerd I just will have fun at his expense like he does at mines.lol

Both you and Dan just could not stay out of it huh! Since you last saw it I've changed my mind about the exterior and going in a different direction so the bench will work however I'll do what I want to and you can only talk about me but that won't stop me...very arrogant of you.lol

Dan,
The bench seat would work good but I like how the buckets look after I get them cut down.

Now see what you guys are doing, making me rethink what I settled on.

I not talking about a color scheme, I talking about the direction your truck is taking, but you go head and use that bench seat. Just go head and do it and watch what happens.lol

Nope I'm not arrogant I leave that to you. You asked and I gave my opinion now deal with it and get some better seats or cut up the ones you have. That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it.

"Don't you put that bench seat in that truck" I don't think that is a opinion father. lol, you ordering me not to put the bench seat in.

I will look at how much work there will be in modifying the buckets compared to how much work to put the seat belts in because I want to be safe when zooming down the road.

Kicking the dust off of this one... which direction did you go? I am now considering a set of these Sebring seats.

Re: Seats -Which one for TF big window

i like the idea of the belts being integrated into seats.

maybe a newer seat out of a 2003 or so chevy? they have built in belts and center consoles...

Re: Seats -Which one for TF big window

So do Trailblazer seats, some full size dodge and F150 extended cab seats, and some really choice BMW convertible seats. The problem is that they all look really big in these small cabs. I almost installed the dodge seats in mine but they didn't look right. I went with a 77 Malibu bench seat and lost the head rests. I had to add some three point belts from a Durango to make them work. I just recovered my seat and need to get it in.

Re: Seats -Which one for TF big window

My experience with newer seats in the 55-9 trucks is they are too big. The backs are too tall and the cab tilts forward above the window. The seats sit very upright and not comfortable. Newer seats tend to be designed for the backs to lean back more than the original. Check the seat bottom also. They are generally longer than the original so you end up with your legs almost against the steering wheel. I have 05 suburban buckets in my 57 crew cab and if the cab was original, the backs of the seats would be past where the back of the cab would be.

Re: Seats -Which one for TF big window

I used bucket seats out of a 1999-2005 Chevy Silverado. The lap belt/shoulder belt was built in. They are both power seats. The good thing is they sit right on the floor and are at the correct height without having to build a frame. Plus the armrests.
