Need Some advice

Its a 71 c10 350 pretty much stock motor except for intake and carb. Driving home last night it stalled at a red light, and when I started it back up it started running rough and popping through the carb. I am thinking maybe the timing chain is worn out, it ran good all weekend.

Re: Need Some advice

Popping through the carb is usually an exhaust valve not opening. Maybe a broken rocker, bent push rod, collapsed lifter? Pull the valve covers and check it out.

Have you tried it since it cooled off? might be a coil.

Re: Need Some advice

Could also be a broken intake vale, sometimes they will lose a chunk of the valve. I had a Dodge van do it back in 74. The valve looked a pie with a piece missing. Popped back through the intake and ran like crap, worse than a Dodge usually does.

Not saying it is, but it might be worth checking.

Also put a timing light on it and see if it's holding timing or if the mark is dancing all over the place.

Good luck
Dan
