blackout

Hey,
So I guess I am still trying to work out the problems with my recently purchased 2005 Chevy Silverado. It has the 5.3 L engine. This time I went to start my truck, all of my gauges turned on. The key hit ignition and everything went dark my gauges shut off, door lights and radio shut off, and I lost all of my power. The starter would not make a sound and nothing would try to turn on. I tried hooking it to a jump pack and even hooked jumper cables up to it and nothing would happen. But every once in a while my power would come back on but as soon as i would try to start it, everything would go dark again. If anyone has any thoughts on this ease let me now i really need my truck for this weekend.
Thanks

Re: blackout

Sounds like a completely dead battery. Pull out the battery and take it to your parts store. They should be able to test it.

Re: blackout

Check for a loose cable elsewhere. I had a problem similar to that and had a loose pos. cable going into the fuse box that was giving me fits. Could be a ground as well.

Re: blackout

Thanks for all your help. It turns out that my battery went completly dead and when i had it hooked up to the jumper cables I was not gettin a good conection out of my cable. Once I got my truck started, I took it over to Advanced Auto and had them do a systems check and everything came back good. Thanks guys for your help.
