Re: vintage air install picts

Parkwood, What did you make the under dash valence? out of? I love the way it hides the AC unit and provides mounts for the ducts. Need to fabricate something like that in the next few weeks. I'm using the Vintage air smallest universal unit due to firewall set back, etc. Thanks.

The guy who does the interiors for me built it out of heavy cardboard and then covered it in leather... Wayne

It is called chipboard. It is common in auto trim used with contact cement amazing things can be made.
P.S the dash looks nice.

Re: vintage air install picts

I had a lower dash valance made out of steel but I also cut the bottom of my dash flush across the bottom. I also used a vintage air kit. Which was a little tricky with my *****in products firewall because of the set back.

BTW I taught Parkwood everything he knows.....Oh wait maybe it is the other way around..

Re: vintage air install picts

Very nice. I was thinking metal also because I want the panel to be dash/body color, but that upholstered look is pretty sweet. I particularly like the way the passenger side goes all the way to the firewall and covers the AC unit.

Ok, stupid question, does the "Vintage Air" setup also handle the heater side of things?

If you don't know it's not a stupid question.... you can get heat only, heat and a/c, or heat a/c and defrost...

Re: vintage air install picts

The pictures show in this thread, are those AC only, or are they heat (hense the 4 lines going through the firewall??)

Does the unit grow in size as you add these options? I assume it does for heat since there is a heat exhanger for that as well, defrost is probably only more hoses under the dash and a different switch?

The pictures i have shown are heat and a/c with defrost. You can get a mini unit with heat and a/c.. and yes that's why the 4 hoses..but the defrost doesn't require any hoses it's all built into the unit.. if that helps you.. check out vintage air at www.vintageair.com
