'49 3100 front brake drum
We got my '49 running in July for the first time in 27 years, and I've been doing whatever I can whenever I can spare a few bucks to get it ready for the road. Was all set to finally get it rolling this weekend, but when the drums went out to be turned only two of them were in good enough shape to go on the machine. Need one rear and one front. Don't necessarily need the hub for the front drum, since I still have the old one.
I've seen a pretty wide range of prices from a bunch of different sites online, but I figured I'd pop in here to see if anyone who's been at this a lot longer than I have has any tips about where to go, who to trust, best prices, etc. Thanks! Here's my story: John's Old Truck |

Re: '49 3100 front brake drum
Well the best price would probably be from someone who still had a good one laying around that he/she pulled off when he/she swapped to five lug or an independent front end. Mine went away in 1973 when I switched to five lug wheels.
On new drums I'd want to think that price isn't quite as important as finding out who has the reputation for selling really good quality replacement drums. |
