Carb spacer purpose?
Don't know when the last time I changed it was, but the gasket between the carb and the spacer is leaking.
What advantages do I have with the spacer? I have a Holley 600 on an Edlebrock intake on a stock 350. It's a daily driver. Would it hurt to remove it? I'd have to check and make sure the throttle and choke don't hit the intake, but other than that, is there an adv/disadv? Thanks for the info! |

Re: Carb spacer purpose?
Keep it, as McSwine said it will prevent vapor lock from hot fuel. Just replace the gasket and call it done.

Re: Carb spacer purpose?
It's supposed to help throttle response and fuel atomization

Re: Carb spacer purpose?
I would keep it. I put one on my burb and i could really tell the difference. It helped with low end and response a lot. Mine was a 1 inch 4 hole type.

Re: Carb spacer purpose?
Suppose to.....
A spacer by itself is pretty much pointless, comparative to something the ricer crowd would "mod" their car with. An insulator on the other hand (which by default will "space" your carb higher) works well to prevent vapor lock and aid in hot starts.

Re: Carb spacer purpose?
x2 helps with vapor lock and hot starts. Could be to convert generic carburetor to spreadbore intake manifold. Does cause snorkel tube to exhaust manifold and throttle linkage to not line up, so I don't use one.

Re: Carb spacer purpose?
Actually it has been tested with proven results. A 1" spacer on a low to medium rise intake will improve low end torque. Not as much as an NOS or Type R sticker but it will make a noticeable improvement.

Re: Carb spacer purpose?
I know there is a gasket from carb to spacer, is there supposed to be one from spacer to air cleaner?

Re: Carb spacer purpose?
Two of a kind i beleive there talking about a spacer undernethe the carb to space it from the manifold not one to space the air cleaner from the carb thos gaskets are not nessacerry but they have them anything above the top plate of the carb does not have to be sealed because it should be metered air going thru the venturis any thing below the throttle plates needs seals to keep leaks away aka un metered air
