Nice 72 SWB Cheyenne Find

on ebay - not mine. This may be a rare one - I don't think this was ever owned by C/10 King

I'll be curious to see what it goes for. Nice truck.

Kinda interesting though, that he says it was never smoked in, when there's a pack of Marlboros laying on the seat...

17 feedbacks and some not-so-good writing. I smell a scam. It does look like a nice truck. Just may not belong to that particular seller.......

I was wondering why there aren't any engine or under-chassis photos. Looks like a nice truck, but something doesn't smell right.

Looks like a great survivor...feedback is a funny thing sometimes but that would scare me enough to not buy it unless I or a trusted friend looked it over VERY well and drove it...

He has a link in the bottom of the description to.more pictures, that include the ones your talking about.

As to the knocking rod complaint, ebay is supposed to have buyer protection for that kind of thing. Never used it, but it provides some level of coverage.

I don't think Ebay's Vehicle Purchase Protection applies to any vehicle over 10 yrs old. They automatically post that the vehicle is covered whether the vehicle qualifies or not.

Looked at a truck in person after paying a guy to go look and send pictures. Later saw the Ebay description and knew the guy was lying about the truck. When the purchaser left bad feedback stating that the seller had misrepresented the truck, I offered pictures to help him get his money back. He forwarded me Ebay correspondence that said vehicles 10 years or older did not qualify for the program. Ebay would not help him at all and was actually rude to him in the correspondence. This was in 2010 and at that point in the year the buyer had spent in excess of $400k on industrial parts through Ebay.

Re: Nice 72 SWB Cheyenne Find

Here's the ebay lingo on the listing:

Coverage:
This vehicle is eligible for up to $50,000 in Vehicle Purchase Protection. Restrictions Apply. (Not eligible for eBay Buyer Protection)

The "not eligible" part is in smaller print. bill72 is right, if you click the link and read far enough, you'll see where vehicles over 10 years old are not covered. I didn't know that - nice info to have. Do your homework before you buy, just like anywhere else.

Re: Nice 72 SWB Cheyenne Find

Repainted. Door panel worn. Missing knobs. Seat re-done. Temp gauge pegged. 53,000 miles?? Better add a "1" in front. A question was asked if it was driven by a non-smoker.."everything is in great working order there is no problems with the truck service wasdone less then a month ago truck was driven by none smoker" ..then look at the pack of Marlboro red's on the seat.

Sumptin ain't right.

Got it. I don't know, but something just seems odd. The paint on the roof is freakin perfect - like it's never been in the sun, and there's no arm sweat patina on the driver's door where you hang your elbow out... in fact, the paint looks *too* perfect... and then there's that one spot of cancer on the passenger door. I've never seen a Cal truck start rotting at that spot, but not in the rockers?

Maybe it's what they say it is? Maybe not. I'd go take a look, but I'm too busy watching paint dry.

Re: Nice 72 SWB Cheyenne Find

Defintely a nice truck as mentioned but looking at more detail at the extra pics...no pics of the cab mounts of course...and if you look up close to the door tag and vin tag it appears to me this was repainted once...so not happy with either the seller's lack of knowledge/attention to that or his outright lie that it has original paint...

at this point (7,800) I think it's still a fair price if it's mechanially sound and not full of bondo but who knows how high the auction will go

Oh, and a note to ebay sellers...if you want top dollar be sure to wipe off the water drops and replace things like the missing $2 dome lamp lense

Re: Nice 72 SWB Cheyenne Find

It was repainted - check out the tail gate bumpers. Trim on left side rear had a problem as did the body line right above it. Still looks like a pretty nice truck.

Yup...as I said before. Also over spray on the vent window runner and channel runs.

Re: Nice 72 SWB Cheyenne Find

Great looking survivor. At $7800, definitely an opportunity to own a great looking SWB. I don't think I've ever seen a bronze colored truck with woodgrain. (First for me) I've already got it built in my mind...

Is it me, or is there rust in the front corner of the passenger's side door? That's a typical spot as we all know. Could be an illusion, but it looks like rust from over here in MO.
