1970 C10 Rear Bumper Bracket Pictures Help!
Hey Guys! I'm in the process of installing rear bumper brackets for my
70 C10 shortbed fleetside. Anybody have pictures of these brackets mounted on to the frame? I'm sure this is a dumb request since it seems like a very straight forward install, but I figured it doesnt hurt to ask? Thanks! |

Re: 1970 C10 Rear Bumper Bracket Pictures Help!
This is all I have from my install... but basically, the main brackets only line up to a few holes in the frame and the outer brackets go on the rear most bolts with the main brackets. The rock gaurds bolt down to the brackets on the top edge.... Let me know if you need better pics and I can get you some.

Yes sir, I think I got them from Classic Industries (I will have to check), they fit great for aftermarket/re-pop. I was pleasently surprised how well the bumper lined up really.

Re: 1970 C10 Rear Bumper Bracket Pictures Help!
No problem, I hope so! I was nervous that they wouldn't even fit with all the other junk I have/had going on at the back of the frame... Make sure to post up some pics when you're done.
Feel free to PM me and Ill give you my cell if you need any help with the install.

Re: 1970 C10 Rear Bumper Bracket Pictures Help!
I to would luv to see this, I bought some aftermarket brackets for my new rear bumper aswell but am having a hard time getting it to line up unless I refab the brackets or weld them in. this is on a 67 gmc c15 with leaf springs not sure if that matters.

You will notice the brackets have holes on one edge towards the bumper end, install them with the holes up and they are installed correctly.
Leave all bolts loose until you get the bumper in the desired position and then tighten it down. Last edited by Xeen; 08-14-2015 at 05:25 AM. |

Thanks for the picture. I've heard that the bolts can be overtightened causing appearance issues from the outside. Did you torque the bumper bolts to a certain spec, or just untill they felt tight?

Re: 1970 C10 Rear Bumper Bracket Pictures Help!
These aftermarket fleetside sport bumpers are super flexible, I don't know why they make them like this because the stepside version is stiff, anyways I sit on the top of the bumper while I tighten the bumper bolts and it doesn't bow as much at the top.
The bumper bolts don't have to be super tight, I used a washer and a lock washer and just tightened it until I was satisfied that it wasn't going anywhere and it wouldn't rattle. Last edited by Xeen; 08-14-2015 at 02:49 PM. |
