Re: pics of the 83 update
No problem, i painted the instrument bezel all black but im not sure that i like it. Thinking of making a piece of brushed aluminum and riveting it or maybe allen head bolts. Any opinions?

Re: pics of the 83 update
Hum yeah I think it would better with some brushed aluminum around the gauges. If I could find the drawings of them I could waterjet some out for you then you could just glue them in place or something.
This is my build that I just cant get enough time to work on http://s1210.photobucket.com/albums/...exasbigbear21/

Re: pics of the 83 update
Air chisseled them out it was a pain till I got the hang of it I even messed up the threads on one and had to replace it but I learned allot doing them myself and would not be afraid to do it again know. Thanks I have so much I want to do to it but I just am focusing on getting every thing running and operating like new first before I work on cosmetics.

Re: pics of the 83 update
Well uve got a good start goin, if ur taking suggestions lol i wld sugest losing the step bumper and removing all the bed cover buttons and filling in the holes. Just a thought also while the front is blown apart wld be a great time to do a suburban grille swap if u like the burb grille w/dual head lights.

Re: pics of the 83 update
O yeah we are on the same track... Have not decided what I want to do far as the grill but that is something to think about. I have never driven the truck I got it from a guy on a trade for my old 1990 mustang fox body that was a POS and started the restoration right away.

Re: pics of the 83 update
No problem. So you have a 350 tbi motor converted to carb? I wished I would have went carb but decided to go with the stock tbi and chip the only performance parts are intake, headers, chip, and hope to add electric fans.

Re: pics of the 83 update
A carb makes things alot easier as far as not needing a computer or anything but tbi is so much more efficient in my opinion. I had a 95 shortwide that was a tbi with 202 heads and a holley street dominator intake but u have to have a carb to tbi adapter, picked mine up at a local speed shop. But this motor in the 83 is only a 305 not a 350.

Re: pics of the 83 update
That was my point in going with the tbi, crank and go but I shure hate all the wires.

Re: pics of the 83 update
I hear ya there. When i first finished my motor in the 95 it kept loading up and choking it self out, i was thinkin its tbi they dont do that haha well the temp sensor that should be next to the thermostat in the intake it was plugged so long story short i had to get a stat housing that i could thread a sensor into bc the computer couldnt tell when the motor was at tempature and just kept dumpin fuel.
