Need some tranny help and some parts help
Hey everyone, placed an order few days ago for all my panels, lens, mirrors, and all new brakes. Not to bad pricing either. I used classic parts . Com. Anyways, My trannsmittion runs and shifts good but it leaks. The truck is a 65 c10 GMC 283 4 on floor. The tranny has a half inch of oil on it. Any ideas? I also needed help on parts I needed 2 I think. The heater panel (deluxe heater) Inside cab(three levered panel to the right of the radio). It has no levers? How do I remove it to look under there for some broken knobs? I am also having a hard time looking for GMC c10 logos above the L/R rear fender.
Thanks in advance! Heres some pictures! |

Re: Need some tranny help and some parts help
first of all are you sure that the transmission is leaking and not the engine leaking back on the trans? as far as the heater goes you will see two screws on the outside in the upper two corners and if i rember right there is only one support bracket on the back side, there is a light bulb on the top to remove then either remove your cables or lower the assb. down so you can see it then you will see where the (levers) are.they are levers not knobs and by the sounds of it they are broken off which is somewhat common on this design.they are alunimum which explains them breaking.i hope that helps.

Re: Need some tranny help and some parts help
no the red switch is'nt factory,as far as the former owner telling you that the oil level has'nt dropped in the engine or trans does'nt mean anything.it takes a pretty good leak to drop your levels and when you see the transmission covered in oil well one of them is leaking.put some on your finger and smell it,80-90 w gearlube has a smell of it's own and of course you can tell the smell of engine oil. as far as your (switches) go the fan control will be a switch and the other two are cabledriven,(take it out and you will see),i assume their the same as chevrolet.if so check with jonzcustomshop here,i gave him good levers and he might be willing to part with a few.
good luck! |
