New Suspension Steering Parts Pregreased?

Stupid question... Do brand new suspension/steering parts have grease already in them? The reason I ask is I just received my order from RockAuto and the boxes are all beat up, parts were in the wrong boxes, and some of them look to have been used.

Re: New Suspension Steering Parts Pregreased?

They do a light pre-grease on steering and suspension parts, and those heavy parts do tend to beat up the boxes they come in. I think a sign of having been used or installed would be scored threads or hammer/beat marks. I just bought tie rods from rockauto and was real pleased with price and delivery. The shipping boxes were beat to hell, but the parts inside were all good.

Re: New Suspension Steering Parts Pregreased?

Yeah, not worried about the beat up boxes, that's expected. But there were definitely some parts in the wrong boxes, and more grease than a "light pregreasing". It was the wholesaler closeout items that seemed to have the problems. I'll be giving them a call today.

Also, does anyone know if pitman arms should have a grease fitting? The picture on RockAuto showed one, but the part I received did not.
