spindle swap

This is my first time on the site and my first attempt at building a 63 shortbed fleetside. I am wanting disc brakes on the front so is it possible to install 72 disc brake spindles on my 63 control arms, would the ball joints need to be convertedto 72 also? and what disc brake rear would work?
Thanks

Re: spindle swap

Ball joints and outer tie rods would need to be changed to use 71-72 spindles.

The aftermarket now makes "year specific" standard spindles and drop spindles.
Buy 63-70 spindles and just bolt them on.
No ball joint change.
No tie rod change.

Re: spindle swap

If you don't want dropped spindles, you can just use OEM parts to convert to front disc brakes. And you don't have to use '71-'72 parts either. The '73-'87 parts are easier to come by, and everyone that has parts for a '67-'72 seem to think they are made of gold. At least that's the way it is in my area.

Here is one thread that should tell you everything you need to know about switching to fromt disc brakes.

Also, I sell a few different rear disc brake conversion brackets for the truck '81-'87 10 bolts and '64-'82 12 bolts. Links are in my sig line.
