65 C10 Little Blue Snot Rocket

Here is my truck... Believe it or not I have a ton of hours into this thing. 84 front crossmember swap, drop spindles and springs. Jeep TJ rear coils and 2" homemade blocks. Rebuilt the 230 with a tri power and a split header. Replaced all of the rot, I went through 2 rolls of wire in my MIG! Three trips to Carlisle and a few new body panels and its almost ready to roll! Hoping to drive her soon!

Cool looking truck! I especially like the tri-power. Is it yellow?

Re: 65 C10 Little Blue Snot Rocket

Got home today and bolted up the bed and put on the grille I made from a pair of 58 imperial headlights and an old steel grille that was smacked up pretty bad. I wanted the dual headlight grille like on some of the older trucks but I couldnt afford one.[IMG][/IMG]

Sweet lookin engine! I like the hotrodded I6's. They're just so cool, and not the normal 350 or LS1.

OOH, That looks awesome!! Did you make that cross-section? Looks killer! I am planning on making a grille for mine someday. I have the 62 grille on a 63 truck right now, and it is ok, but i just want to be able to say "I made that". Haha.

Re: 65 C10 Little Blue Snot Rocket

LOVE the idea of the 4 headlight look.

In case you are interested I do have a 60-61 grill with the light bezels and 4 cans i'd sell for $100 and shipping.

It is from a salvage truck and needs just a bit of work to clean it up and use it.

Very cool build, I dig where your head's at. That grill came out kool! You gonna paint the grill shroud inner black? IMHO it would really make your grill pop.

holy crap its almost a perfect match! I mixed mine, duplicolor paint shop sublime green with some black and some white to kill the neon effect. Is that an original color? thats what I was going for.

The cross section is the top part of the original 65 grille that was on the truck. when i got it the front passenger side was smacked up so i cut it up and made it work. The headlights are 58 Imperial (I believe) I made new housings for them out of some sheetmetal and welded the crossection to them.

Im definately gonna do the shroud black, maybe with white on the outline similar to the original color scheme. I think I should paint the grill white, what do you guys think?

I could not find this color in any 65 paint book, I think it is a dealer re-paint because under the cab corners it's dark green which is in the paint books. They painted the complete firewall and has what I assume is paint #'s marked on the firewall. I couldn't find any of the #'s in any paint books, so it's a mystery to me what the deal is?...Vernski

Re: 65 C10 Little Blue Snot Rocket

I put some speed holes in the radiator support brackets tonight. I made the dimple die from an old weight lifting bar and turned it on a lathe. I was pretty psyched.
