Re: What should I do

Plenty of choices........my vote is for one of the LS series. If it is a real truck (one for hauling) then a 6.0 LQ4 or LQ9 (L92 6.2 cool but expensive). If it is more a crusier that you want some good HP, good for an LS2, LS3, or a LS9

Big Block are fun, but the LS run as hard and can pass gas stations too.

We would have to have a little more information here. Like what are you looking to use your truck for? Like a daily driver, weekend cruiser, what?

I myself like the SBC engines myself, but you can also go with the more modern LS family of engines as well. Just depends on what you want out of it.

Good luck.

As the choices are almost endless!

Re: What should I do

How about a hot rodded inline six? Plenty of torque, reliable, relatively inexpensive, easy to work on, and a little out of the main-stream. You could still do a smoke-show, and you wouldn't have so much weight up front.

572 crate with F.A.S.T. FI. A new 6 speed tranny. You will need a water cooled checkbook.

Re: What should I do

I'm not sure those sixes weigh much less than a V-8.

I like the six idea 292 with some old custom offy' parts. I also liked Pop's C10 idea w/283 and a tunnel ram. Sorry to show my age.

We don't have enough information to answer your question. I suggest you start by figuring out how much you want to spend, determine how the engine will be used, then do your own research to find the best bang for the buck. After you do your homework, narrow down the selection and post your findings. That will help us help you.

I built my entire truck on this decision process.
