97 Suburban engine dies

Just want to see if anyone else has had the problem my wife has been having with her 97 K2500 Suburban with a 5.7 and 4L80. She says that when she has to slam on the breaks the engine will die. I have yet to be able to duplicate the problem for myself so I wanted to see if anyone else has any ideas. ABS control maybe?

Re: 97 Suburban engine dies

I don't think the ABS would kill it. 4WAL ABS didn't have any vacuum lines to it. And I don't think 4WAL ABS would kill the motor electricly. If I had to guess I would assume maybe a loose vacuum line. Somehow when she slams on the brakes, you loose most of the vacuum and then the motor dies. Or even possibly a loose connector somewhere. Maybe just the forward motion of the trucks moves it just that little bit, to cause it to not make a connection.

Trust me I've told her to stop tailgatiing but she doesn't listen. Ive thought about it a little more and I wonder if the converter is just not unlocking in time.
