Codes

I have my 2003 GMC 3500 4x4 with the 6.0 engine set all summer and started it up and I got a check engine light on. I pulled the codes and this is what I got p0134, p0171 and p0300. the truck runs real rough now. what do these codes mean and why did they set from not using it? How do I correct this? last spring when I was plowing snow with it it ran super but not needing it in the summer I didn't use it.

Re: Codes

Clear the codes, Does the P0134 come back in a few minutes? If it does perform this test.......

P0134 Heated Oxygen Sensor (Bank 1 Sensor 1) Insufficient Activity
1. Swap Bank 1 Sensor 1 (B1S1) and Bank 2 Sensor 1 (B2S1) O2 sensors.

2. If code P0154 sets, the O2 sensor that was moved to bank 2 is defective.

3. If the same P0134 code sets ground the Purple and Tan wires at the sensor from the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) to a good ground.

4. Voltage should drop to 0 on the scanner for Bank 1 Sensor 1 (B2S1). If doesnt you have a wiring/connection problem.

P0134 & P0171 dont usually set together.....The P0171 might have already been a active code.......

Condition for setting P0171 Fuel Trim System Lean (Bank 1)......

DTC P0053, P0054, P0059, P0060, P0101, P0102, P0103, P0106, P0107, P0108, P0131, P0132, P0133, P0134, P0135, P0137, P0138, P0140, P0141, P0151, P0152, P0153, P0154, P0155, P0157, P0158, P0160, P0161, P0200, P0300, P0442, P0443, P0446, P0449, P0452, P0453, P0455, P0496, P0506, P0507, P1133, P1134, P1153, P1154, P2A01 and P2A04 Are not set; engine speed from 400-6,500 rpm, BARO signal over 74 kPa, ECT signal from -40ºF to +284ºF, IAT signal from -4ºF to +304ºF, MAF signal from 1-150 g/sec, MAP signal from 15-105 kPa, TP angle less than 90%, vehicle speed less than 82 mph, and the PCM detected the Bank 1 Long Term fuel trim weighted average was more than more than a calibrated value for 6 seconds.

They screw into the exhaust pipes just before the cats. Drivers side is bank 1 passengers side is bank 2

Re: Codes

To add onto ClineBarger's post.

P0300 is a random misfire. This could be, and is likely triggered by the other codes and running rough. Fix the o2 sensor and it may go away.

FYI I had left my 01 6.0 sitting for a couple months, ran it for the first time the other day and got a P0303 (cyl 3 misfire), it lasted for about 5 minutes, I drove it down the road, cleared it, and it hasn't came back since. I think it was just grumpy from not being driven
