Toyota parts for 6 lug disc?
OK, crazy newbie question time:
Has anyone heard of / tried / have thoughts on using Toyota 6-lug parts to put together disc brakes for a '57? The bolt patterns match, the brakes are lug-mounted & 4 pistons, the parts are OEM... seems like a winner. Issues I haven't investigated yet: Bracketry center bore of rotors lug diameter Any thoughts? If anyone is asking "why", it's mostly because I'm a Volvo & Toyota mechanic so I see these things around a lot... |

Re: Toyota parts for 6 lug disc?
Sometimes that is how a new idea comes about. Looking at something every day at work and then figuring out how to make it work on a different application.
If you haven't already you could save some of the worn out pieces for mockup and would only be out your time if it didn't pan out. The key is probably going to be figuring out how to mount the caliper and designing a bracket that will work. |

Re: Toyota parts for 6 lug disc?
You probably already know you'll be cutting brake lines and reflaring one end unless you change everything. Some idiot put a metric MC on my truck, and changed the ends to metric nuts, while the other end was SAE for the 76 4X4 axle under it. I'm happy to say it is all stock now.
