No on the cowl hood. Unless there's a reason for it, leave the current hood or put a cowl-induction hood on painted to match. Tinted windows are good in TX. No limo crap though..... Bedliner just up to the rails. Don't go over the top unless the current rails are in poor shape. Rims sound good. Chrome billet grilles are cool. Fresh OEM grilles are better....

IMO, cowl hood don't look good unless the truck is lowered, even then, they are still questionable. This comes from a guy who used to have a cowl hood...used to.

I know some guys really like the 'look'. If that's the case, it needs to be painted to match.

Re: what do yall think?
Leave it as is and just tint the windows and get the bedliner. Clean up your current rims.
I would just be careful with $$$ in this economy and just get her running right. Spend money on the necessities. It looks great the way it is! |

Re: what do yall think?
I'd get it running well, and then slam it.
I think a repop 73-74 grill would be roughly the same price as a billet grille, but the 73-74 grille looks the best (to me). The billet grilles remind me of the 1980s in a bad way. I like your color combo, it's quite tasty. I agree with the others...i don't like the cowl hoods, but it's your truck, do it your way. |

Re: what do yall think?
I think you should put the trim back on it, polish it up nice, lower it, and put a nice set of rallyes on it. The bedliner and some window tint isn't a bad idea either. I think the cowl hoods look better on the 80's trucks and they have to be painted and some mods to the truck to go with the theme. You've got a nice looking truck there, but build it your way and enjoy it. If we all built them the same way it wouldn't be any fun.

Re: what do yall think?
Nice truck! Love the colors. I agree with otherīs in this thread, rather spend the money on cleaning it up a bit than on a cowl hood if you donīt need it beacuse of engine plans ( I like the cowl look too, but only if it has a purpouse)
As for the side trim, if I were you I would think twice about leaving it off. Did it on a friends truck, was fine in the beginning but after a while it just started to look plain and he ended up puting them back. Just my 2 c, itīs your truck so build it like you want it. People will allways have opinions about whatīs "hot" and whats not.

Re: what do yall think?
The motor and tranny run fantastic in this truck they don't have as much balls but deffiently good for daily driving I haven't lost any oil, transfluid, not radiator fluid since I put it in this summer it's a great motor and all the paint I don't know exactly what color it is I can get my friends dad to match it up and figure out what it is and the paint job is pretty rough I need a new one along with some new panels passenger side is the only side with any rust drivers side is rust free well there is one small spot but that's it I want it to look frickin awesome I love the color when it's cleaned up
I think I should just get a new paint job after I tint the windows, the bedlined and the a/c kit in Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: what do yall think?
Howdy neighbor. I don't like cowl hoods myself, just personal taste. No opinion on billet grill, if you like it go for it. I prefer the sleeper look on old trucks.
My project is an '81 Scottsdale SWB stepside, didn't have much brightwork on it off of the assembly line which is how I like it. Looking at going with even less when I'm done, thinking about a retro bomber style with blacked-out rallys and bullet lug nuts. Want it to be different. Looks pretty solid for a south TX bucket, mine was parked in the backyard of a local one-owner and it has its share of cancer. Taking it down to the frame and going ground-up since I have a replacement cab for it. Good luck and keep us posted... |
