Rear
Does anyone know if a 67 rear will fit in my 71. I just checked and I have 308 gears outback and found a rear at my buddies junkyard that is in a 67 6cyl 3 speed manual I am assuming it has a 373 or 411 gear.

Re: Rear
a 67 rear is 6 lug pattern so you'd need new wheels for the back

Re: Rear
it will fit and then you could run wider wheels, and no you wont be able to swap the axles because of the width

Re: Rear
When I pulled a rearend out of a 71 6cyl that had 3:73 gears to install in my 69 I just took the pumpkin and pinion. Once installed I notice my drum was at least a 1/4 inch past the backing plate. I found out that after 69, the rearend is different. One of my axles went into the rearend deeper than it should have. I dont know if it was the housing or the rearend pumpkin thats different but if I have to do it again, I will take everything.
