'71 Blazer headlight pull removal

I'm sure this is a simple thing, but I can't figure it out and need some guidance from you all. How do you remove the headlight pull from the gauge bezel on a '71 K5? I got the nut off, but can't get the rod detached from the unit inside the dash.

You should pull the wiring harness off the switch first, or your headlights will stay on.

That was about the easiest thing ever…
Thanks man. Is there a good manual to learn this kind of stuff? I have the Haynes manual but it's for '67-80something models, so not exactly specific.

I really appreciate your help.
