New toy brings me to this area!!
I usually spend most of my time in the 60-66 area but today I traded for a 92 S10. I'll post pictures Sunday after I take them. It is built 327 with a 700R4 and 4:10 gears. The guy I got it from say's it ran mid 8's at the local 1/8 th mile. My goal is to make it more streetable and take it on the Hot Rod Power Tour this year. Ray

Re: New toy brings me to this area!!
that's all-I like a lot of it but there are some things I want to change
1-going back to a streetable gear in rear 2-gas gauge,it has none now and I WANT ONE!!!! 3-Change rear wheels, try to tuck them in more-need different offsets 4-might get rid of the bottle,I have awife with heavy FOOT 5-try to put air conditioning in,want to go on HOT ROD POWER TOUR There might be a few more after I get used to it I still have the 64 C10 so I'll be popping in and out this section Later Ray |

Re: New toy brings me to this area!!
For A/c find a 4.3 truck and yank all the guts from it. Should be just a swap out. And then you can take the serpentine belt system put it on your motor. My 91 has factory air and this is what I plan to do to mine, when I V8 it.
either way thats a sharp looking truck.

Re: New toy brings me to this area!!
Nice looking truck but a thought comes up. How did it pass tech at the strip with that low gas tank. Looks quite low. Close to the scrub line. JMHO

Re: New toy brings me to this area!!
It is close but the first picture I posted of it shows a side shot and the Fuel cell is above the scrub line. If I had done it I might have just mounted in the bed and not have it hang down like that.

Ray that little pick up is pretty dang nice! Definitely worthy of the trade. I wouldn't feel bad a bit. Hey, now you can drive to GTG's when it gets cool. You got side windows buddy!

Re: New toy brings me to this area!!
Ryan,it seems a little strange to go out to the garage and not see my bike!! I've had it for 7 years it was time to move on. I've started another one anyway This one will have a windshield I'm tired of eating BUGS!! I don't like that Quicksilver shifter at all.
Barry, I was thinking about a underdash unit for air- I don't know if it will fit with out cutting some of the package tray out though. There is no E-brake on it with the set up it has now,may go with a driveshaft one? Thanks for all the comments. It's a hoot to drive-actually a Handfull Not as much room as the 64,a little lower,a little louder, a lot FASTER |

Re: New toy brings me to this area!!
Serpentine belts are not going to work with the short water pump.
A radiator hose for a '78 impala with a v8 can be cut to fit in place of your two piece upper hose.

Re: New toy brings me to this area!!
Thanks Damien! I'll try that hose this winter. I was going to use a piece of Stainless Pipe and make it at least prettier!

Re: New toy brings me to this area!!
Thanks for the comments, I really like it so far.
likearoc13,the 64 is my wife's! All I get to do is wrench on it! She lets me drive it once in a while. Anything I do to it has to be approved by her first. Gotta love having a gearhead for a wife. Nate,Thanks I have ordered a gas gauge and sending unit. I have a set of 3:42's to replace the 4:10's with. I have a guy who wants to buy my wheels,if he does I can get some that tuck under the truck better and get some tires that will let me drive on the highway. my neighbor asked me "What are you gonna haul in that?" I told him "A**" |

Re: New toy brings me to this area!!
i used 4.3 brackets on mine thinking I was gonna put A/C back in it, running a bypass pulley right now... but I like having the factory type belt setup, made it simpler... I moved my radiator forward though and gave me more room out front but its all still tight. wish I woulda wrapped my headers too! oh well, nice truck though! I need to get my tranny issues worked out and maybe cruze your way..
mine looks stock though... just dont sound stock....

Re: New toy brings me to this area!!
I got my gas gauge today, waiting on sending unit and gauge cup. I bought some new rear tires for it Hankook 295/50-15 not to expensive so I won't mind spinning them a litttle
I'm changing the rear end Thursday back to the 3:42's, I still hate that B&M quicksiver!!! I tried driving it at nite-headlight covers SUCK It's a pain in the A** to put gas in it, you have to unsnap the tarp to open up tailgate. |
