Speaker Wiring Help!

Ive got a few questions about installing an after market stereo/speakers possibly. In my 1984 C10 Stepside, there are two speakers behind the bench seat, idk if theyre stock or aftermarket but they certainly need to be replaced. but the only wire that runs into them is a small black wire. To install new speakers would i need to start all over or is it possible to just find some home speakers, anything that just uses one black wire into the speaker so i can use the wiring and ground thats already been done? Any suggestions ideas help etc is appreciated, im a newbie with wiring, i know i know.
Thanks.

Re: Speaker Wiring Help!

i believe the standard speaker back there is 3X10 or so.. one of our vendors makes a bracket that allows you to put in 6X9 speakers.. as far as i know youll need to replace the wiring with two wires.. but PM AceX and maybe he can help you alot better hes the local stereo guru.. also try posting in the audio secton

Re: Speaker Wiring Help!

if it has one black wire its most likley a mono setup. i would say its easier to replace all speaker wiring. just run two new speaker wires to the back (and get some boxes or get the brackets from the vendor). if you need any more help with this dont hesitate to PM me because i have become somewhat of an expert on car audio after several car audio projects with subs including my 86 c-10
