Re: My new '11
I got mine last February and had to lower it to make it so the wife could get in it. 5.3, with 3.42 gears and posi. I have done a few other things under the hood and changed out the elephant ear mirrors for ones from Street Scene.

Haha thats a good one, so the wife can get in. Ya mine has the 5.3, 3.42, posi also, i like it so far. im assuming yours is also Flexfuel and has the Active fuel management? if so, how are you liking the AFM so far?

Re: My new '11
First and most important of all, you have to get below 75 MPH to use the fuel management effectively. The state raised the four-lane highways to 75 MPH and now everyone runs 80 MPH on the highways. It does work and it does make a difference. I changed the exhaust and air intake out with a slight change to my tune. The headers makes this thing move quite well for a basic 327 engine. Mine is a flex fuel ,but to me the loss of the efficiency from the corn gas is not worth the cost difference.

Re: My new '11
-piecesparts ,i just saw your last thread on the Kooks headers, i had no idea there was already a set a headers out there, now im really curious if your truck has AFM and how good the headers are with it. Did you also get a different muffler and tailpipe?

Re: My new '11
O wow, i was just typing up my last reply when you answered. Ya i read the manual about flexfuel, it says that it "may use more fuel due to less energy in the ethanol" im like, good to know. i wont use it! Just the other day, i i recorded 22mpg averaging 55 mph, i was impressed! What air intake are you using? Im looking at changing that and the exhaust.

Re: My new '11
I went with the K&N FIPK setup on the air intake. Simple and easy to install. I haven't really driven my truck at sustained speeds around 55 MPH much, but when I have, the fuel usage computer shows high numbers. I run the highways around my area at 75 to 80 MPH (speed limit is 75 MPH) and I get 19 to 20 MPG at those speeds. When I lowered my truck, I also traded my 275/55/20 tires that came with it for a set of 265/50/20 tires to get a little more wheel well space. That changed the RPMs slightly, but not much. I got into the tires with the cost of the mounting labor.
I had changed my exhaust to a Magnaflow 3" inlet to dual 2 1/2" pipe outlets. Those pipes run to the rear and are tucked tight to the rear bumper with MEGS oval exhaust tips. The addition of the headers got rid of the resonator under the cab, so now the exhaust is real throaty and the noise in the cab is minimal (except under hard acceleration)
