another way to do a cargo light
My truck was originally a cheyenne, possibly a super (original fenders and spid
were long gone so we will never know for sure.) anyway my original cab had the cargo lamp and headliner, but it was toast. the cargo light and roof seams leaked and rotted the area above the back window out. the replacement cab didn't come with either one,so i had to cut the holes for them. but i forgot to save those pieces of the original truck so i got those panel pieces from a board member picture a and here is what i did. i took a 4 foot level and lined it up on the center stiffening rib on the back of the cab below the window. (make sure the cab is level side to side). I used the level to make an up and down center line on the back of the cab above the window.(see picture b)then i used the outer panel piece which still had a section of the rear window lip on it as a template to mark the location of the new cargo light. i centered the template over the up and down center line and used the lip to locate it up and down and level. See picture c then it was just a matter of marking the holes with a sharpie. you can do the same to mark the hole for the cargo light switch,on the inside of the cab.The hole for the dome light is punched out from the factory with a taper so that your template will nest inside the dome light hole and just mark it. and there you have it. your ready to start cutting.
