camper shell.....
im not a big fan of camper shells but was thinking of a wild idea. Unfortunatly i do not pocess fabricating skills nor the equipment to attempt anything.
Lets say you have a beyond repairable 60-66 chevy/gmc suburban or panel. Cut and make the top back end into a camper shell to put on a regular swb or lwb truck giving the illusion that you have a sub or panel. Am i crazy or is this a cool idea? when ever you want it to be a truck just simply take the shell off.

Sounds good! Now we just need someone to photo shop the idea so we can see it! And sub windows on the side probley would look better imo then a panel

I was going to do this about 20 years ago, but I ended up having to move and had to get rid of my 3 parts Suburbans. It could be done with enough time and the skills to fabricate. Although I think it would be a bit heavier than a typical canopy.

That would look really cool but i would hope that you didnt have plans to remove it very often sounds like it would be pretty darn heavy

I've always wanted one for the stepside although I've never thought of using cutting a Sub to do it. A narrowed Sub back half....Hmmmm. Neat idea! Only negative I could think would be the weight? I think it would look way cool!

A fiberglass shell of a panel truck would be handy, then you could insert windows or not. A lot of contouring to follow the back of the cab. A hatch at the back with or without windows. 4 sizes for each style box.
Found this in my Silver Book, the parent company still exists.

it might be alot of work but weight wise why dont you get a fiberglass topper and cut it up or do whatever you need to do it to with more fiberglass to make it look like the back of a panel or suburban

It would probably be best to use a sub or panel to make a mold then build it out of fiberglass.
