Moving Axles Forward
I figured the people in the 4x4 section would be more familiar with axles riding on leaf springs and what it takes to move them. From what I can gather my truck is a 67-72 body on a 73-? 4x4 frame. Looking at the truck from the side the wheels don't seem quite centered in the wheel wells of the body. The front looks like it needs to be shifted forward maybe an inch, the back a little less if any. What is involved in shifting the axle forward this much? Is there a better way to go about lining the wheels up with the body (i.e. moving the entire body) or will getting newer front springs move the axle forward? My front springs have a slight downward curve to them now and are no long flat. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Moving Axles Forward
DIY4X has a B52 kit that will allow you to adjust to bigger springs that can also be used to move your springs forward. The other way is a longer shackle in the front might move it a little. As for the back, i got nothing. Good luck

Re: Moving Axles Forward
I just lifted my 67 with 69-72 springs which everyone says won't work. I put it together and the pin was off, so the wheel was too far forward. I got a 1 inch aluminum lift block and drilled another hole for the pin in it 2 inches rearward. Lines up perfect now. You can probably do the same on the rear on your truck.

If you go into some of the circle track racing catalogs or Summitt, you can find 1" lift blocks that have an adjustable pin just for that sort of application.

Re: Moving Axles Forward
If you want to lift it, get the B-52 brackets, and a shackle flip for the rear. If you just want to move the axles a bit, get the zero rates. They get bolted into the spring pack and are not blocks. They are actually considered a zero rate spring. Then depending on what drive shafts you have, you may need to get it lengthened or if they have enough in the slip, you could possibly pull it off.
