Diesel driver with gasser question

I hate to have to ask, but can anyone identify what engine this is in a 1988 one ton pickup? It has two tailpipes on one side in the back if that is any help. Thanks!

It is a smallblock chevy. If you want to get more in-depth, get the casting number which resides on the back of the engine, on top of the bellhousing area.

Re: Diesel driver with gasser question

Thanks for the info, it helps me out. I don't have the opportunity to check it in person, but knowing that it is a smallblock is all I need. H.

Re: Diesel driver with gasser question

Most likely its a 350. 1 ton's came with either a 454 big block or a 350 small block. Matt

What Chevy355 said. Did you look for a catalyst sticker on the top of the rad support?

Re: Diesel driver with gasser question

Unless it was swapped out, it is a 350 because that is the only small block offered in 1988 1 ton.

Re: Diesel driver with gasser question

I was looking at buying it, but it is gone. I guess I didn't really need two big blue trucks in the driveway. H.
