Re: Radiator
Unless you are specifically looking to change to electric fans, I would be more inclined
to talk to your local shops and find out what is available locally for your application. The new aluminum stock replacements have come down so low in price and are such high quality, you might be surprised. I admit to having a hang-up on local sourcing tho. Let us know the outcome! |

Re: Radiator
Would you mind giving us a link to the ebay one? Just might be a dynamite deal...pretty hard for us to guess what your criteria is from here.
There's a lot of great deals on ebay but if it does not fit or is crappy, it can be a big hassle on returning. We just had a '69 Pontiac in the shop that the owner paid big bucks (about $400) for a big, nice radiator. HUGE engine. Needed the shroud to fit, no damage to the core support & the radiator to should work well. The dad wanted a stock replacement but his son insisted on aluminum. (they are co-owners) There were still major fitment problems, even from a top-of-the-line part. Because of where the drain petcock was and the fact that we couldn't (wouldn't) cut the core support, the only way of draining it is by siphoning. We also had to modify the shroud so it fit around the radiators cap. Nothing that couldn't be conquered but, shy of re-coring a stock 4-core, these problems may be an issue for fitting yours as well. Regardless of where you get it. And don't mean to bum you out...may not be an issue for you but just warning that this stuff can create a major hassle. Speaking of which, have you looked into a used 4-core and the cost of a re-coring it? That's what I did about 10 years ago and I couldn't be happier. Stock but rebuilt plus the direction of flow was changed. To the better. Interesting subject, so keep us in the loop. And sorry for the long post but I've been there. Good Luck! . |
