Powerboost versus Vacumm Pump
My engine doesn't produce the vac that it used to so my power brakes are a little weak. I did install a vac reservoir but didn't help too much. I have an old power boost system from another truck that I grabbed, but the lines need replacing and it all needs to be restored before I can install. Other option is to install an aftermarket vac pump, which seems to be an easier upgrade. Looking for any thoughts from people that have experienced this situation. Thanks

Re: Powerboost versus Vacumm Pump
I had one on my car for about 5 minutes. They sound like a pancake comressor, and make a noticable vibration that cuts on and off constantly. Personally, I couldn't handle it.
For something that you drive on the street or in traffic, I would say go with the hydroboost, but that's just me.

Re: Powerboost versus Vacumm Pump
I have a diesel in my truck and I run a late model F*rd truck electric vacuum pump for my tranny. It works great but does cut in and out quite frequently. I am going to be installing an accumulator to keep it from running so much. I can't hear mine run when I am going down the road but I can hear it at idle. I think as long as you get some good rubber isolation mounts, it'll be fine.

Re: Powerboost versus Vacumm Pump
hydraboost could be used but you would need to replace a few things with 3/4 or 1 ton parts. I believe it runs off of the power steering pump.
